Steven Hatcher - Solid Waste Department
The Public Works Department would like to introduce Steven Hatcher as the newest member of the Solid Waste Division team. Steve was born in Eustis, Florida, and grew up in Umatilla with 3 siblings. He enjoys playing video games, fishing and watching college football. As an avid fan of the University of Florida, Steve especially loves watching the Gators.
Steve began working for the City of Tavares in 2008 as an employee of the Parks Department. Always looking for professional growth, Steve set his sights on a future opening in the Solid Waste Division as a route driver. This position required a Class B Commercial Diver License (CDL). Steve’s acquired knowledge and extensive training led him to successfully pass the written test and driving ability test. In obtaining his license, Steve also had to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the mechanics and equipment of the truck itself and be able to perform start up safety procedures.
In 2013, Steve became a member of the Tavares Solid Waste Team. With a positive professional attitude and an ever-present smile, Steve fits right in. His day now starts off with a walk-around vehicle inspection and necessary safety checks before beginning his collection route. Steve takes pride in providing a vital service to the citizens of Tavares. The next time you see Steve drive by, give him a wave!
