Come watch, learn, and play "the game of kings" All skill levels and ages are welcome! Beginners will learn basic moves and then be paired with a player. Beginners are especially welcome! Studies show that chess may raise students' IQ and help prevent Alzheimer's. It boosts creativity, memory, and problem-solving skills.

The annual Mother-Son Night Out event is scheduled for Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Tavares Civic Center and Ridge Park, located behind the Tavares Public Library. Advanced tickets are required and will be available for purchase at the Tavares Recreation Department located at 123 N. St. Clair Abrams Avenue.
The event is themed: "Game Night" where moms and boys alike can play all sorts of board games, life-size games and try their hands at some old-fashioned classics.
