Jones Brothers & Co Launches NEW Seaplane Solo Flying Club and Takes "America's Seaplane City" to a Whole New level!

The City of Tavares is very pleased to announce that the City's aviation partner, Jones Brothers & Co. Air and Seaplane Adventures, has just added a SEAPLANE SOLO FLYING CLUB to their operation! This means pilots can easily rent a seaplane for their own personal adventure. Jones Brothers & Co. operate out of the Tavares Seaplane Base in Wooton Park, on Lake Dora.

Since 2010 Jones Brothers has offered scenic seaplane rides and seaplane flight training. In 2015 Jones Brothers expanded their services by adding FAA Part 135 on demand passenger air charter services. This service allows Jones Brothers passengers to travel from the Tavares Seaplane Base to a wide range of destination across the Southeast United States.

As Tavares continues to expand its aviation presence, Jones Brothers & Co. has continued to play a pivotal role in representing the City by providing innovative seaplane services to our community. Across the country there are very few options for pilots looking to rent seaplanes. Jones Brothers providing such a rare and unique service is thrilling for the City of Tavares and is a natural fit for “America’s Seaplane City”!

Starting with one aircraft, a classic yellow Piper Cub on straight floats, Jones Brothers has already welcomed their first members to the Seaplane Solo Flying Club. The first member to fly the airplane, Mr. Don Bartlett, travels to central Florida multiple times a year from southern Illinois. A pilot of 30 plus years, Don earned his seaplane pilot rating with Jones Brothers about 5 years ago. Since then Don has visited regularly, flying with a Jones Brothers instructor multiple times a year. Now, thanks to the new club, Don can visit and fly without the time restraints of bringing along a flight instructor.

Member pilots can make reservations for the Piper Cub online or over the phone. When it comes time for the pilot’s reservation they will be able to show up and find the airplane ready to go. This means skipping a lot of the hassles that aircraft owners may face before a flight, as the Jones Brothers staff will ensure the aircraft is fueled and ready.

Rob Galloway, the owner of Jones Brothers says, “Over and over I heard the same message from customers. Learning to fly a seaplane sounds like fun, but what can I do with a seaplane rating?” The Seaplane Solo Flying Club is the perfect answer. Students can now come to Jones Brothers in America’s Seaplane City, learn to fly seaplanes and then transition into the Seaplane Solo Flying Club to utilize their new pilot privileges. Rob answered the question of so many prospective students and in his words, “The club creates an avenue for seaplane pilots who don’t own a seaplane to maintain proficiency and have access to seaplane flying.”

Jones Brothers offers two levels of flying club membership: Premium and Basic. Both levels include access to the seaplane in addition to other great benefits. The premium membership includes aviation renters insurance which is good at any FBO, a significant value for renter pilots. Additionally, membership also requires a yearly flight with an instructor for proficiency, this lesson is included for Premium members. Jones Brothers has designed the proficiency flight to satisfy the requirements of a pilot flight review. All flying club members, regardless of membership type, are invited to attend quarterly safety and social events. Rob Galloway describes the flying club, “As a way to encourage seaplane flying and aviation activity.”

Jones Brothers has an outstanding safety record and makes safety its number one priority. It's truly a family business that enjoys building meaningful relationships with the community as well as all of the students and passengers who fly with them.
